Incorporated as a Non-Profit Organization, working for community development through Human Rights, Education, Eradicate poverty an also creating a platform for the marginalized young people.
The Forum was established in 2015 by a cluster of graduates. The main purpose of the forum is to focus on community development through participation of its own people. The major role of the Clau Clau Youth Development Forum is to strengthen and empower the youth in the community, providing them with the necessary soft and vocational skills in order to address the social and economic challenges
Part of our vision is to establish an information centre within our community where ICT training and office service can be provided.
Provide access to integrated, cost effective and responsive government information services.
Enhance the quality of life of the people in the community.
Improve community participation in government decision-making.
Provide access to and use of technology.
Promote proper management and control of government and other stakeholder resources.
Provide a base and support function for Government and other stakeholder Campaigns.
Enhance co-operation amongst the three Spheres of government
Provide self-improvement opportunities to communities, as well as the means to access them.
Provide an additional mechanism for two way communications between stakeholders and the people.
Some key features of Forum centre are :
- Political non-partisanship: Forum must be community institutions that bring services closer to the people.
- Physical infrastructure: the Community will use an existing accessible container facility as a site for providing services.
- ICT infrastructure: In order to provide fast, efficient and effective services, there is a need to have appropriate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure at forum centre. This will help people in rural areas to gain exposure to technologies and information, thereby enabling them to participate meaningfully in the global economy and knowledge society.
The Forum initiative aims to provide needs driven services and information in an integrated fashion. It seeks to address particular historical, social and economic challenges/problems, which characterised freedom of access to information and citizen participation in South Africa. This includes socio-economic problems such as poverty, high unemployment, low standards of living (people living below the poverty line), poor access to basic services, remote settlement patterns, lack of access to technology, lack of information, poor health services, lack of education and skills, lack of infrastructure, etc. In essence, the beneficiaries of this programme are people and communities who are affected by the afore-mentioned socio-economic conditions.
Sustainability, Affordability and Quality of Service
The Forum believes that the integrated nature of centre will bring about extensive cost savings in terms of maintaining the service channel to community, while at the same time extending the reach (moving the ‘front desk’ forward) of services into here tofore under-serviced community. The allowance for community participation and ownership as well as the economic opportunities that this brings, ensure high quality service and participation from all.
